Inkscape Editor's Review

Inkscape is one of the best free scalable vector editors that I've known so far. However, it has a big advantage over the competition because it's free and open source. You can use this application to create amazing graphics, which use the W3C standard SVG (scalable vector graphics) file format. It has most, if not all the features of a professional graphics editor, but it comes without any charge.

The user interface is relatively easy to use. If you are a beginner wanting to see what you can create with this software, you could start by visiting the sample SVG files which are distributed along with this application. These examples can be found in the "C:\Program files\Inkscape\share\examples" folder (provided that you installed the program in "C:\Program files\Inkscape\").

I appreciated Inkscape since the first time I used it. I like its user interface very much because it's easy to use and provides easy access to all the program's features. Truth is that Inkscape looks and feels just like any other professional illustration application.

Inkscape works with nodes, curves, lines, and shapes to create illustrations. At the time of my writing this review, the application features a set of over a dozen tools for drawing and moving objects or text. I tested the application for a couple of days, without any major problems.

Pluses: SVG files are in fact a kind of XML files. Inkscape uses 'Phyton' to process SVG files, whenever you apply an effect to your current illustration. The built-in Phyton scripts include functions for modifying the brightness, contrast, or hue of an illustration. You can also use Inkscape to add nodes, fractalize, straighten lines, or to flatten bezier lines. This is done by using the Effects menu.

Drawbacks / flaws:

In conclusion: If I wasn't able to impress you with this review, maybe you'll be impressed with Inkscape's features. This application is definitely worth a try.
